We Have A Name!!!

It only took seven months, but Dewayne & I have finally agreed upon a name for Baby Hamilton #2:

"Emery Kai Hamilton"

(Kai is pronounced like "ky".) I've been trying to teach Micah how to pronounce "Emery" for the past week. Most of the time it sounds like "Em-ry", although I have heard him say it correctly once or twice! At least we have another 3 months to work on it!

The Bump.

The Bump.

I prefer to post pictures of mostly Micah, but I suppose his little brother would like a piece of the action, too. So, here's the bump at 28 weeks! Hopefully, we will come to a final decision on the little one's name soon... I'd hate to point fingers (Dewayne) but someone (Dewayne) has been a bit difficult in the naming process (Dewayne.)

Micah's Television Debut!

"Good Morning, Alabama!"

Last week, Micah was chosen to model his Halloween costume on The Good Morning Alabama Show on Fox 6! I must say, I was a bit hesitant to accept the offer, especially not knowing how Micah would react to all of the cameras and people. My top two fears were that: 1. Micah would begin to cry and run off of the set, or 2. Micah would unzip his costume and model his Thomas the Train underwear instead!

Luckily, there is hardly anything that Micah won't do for some fruit snacks, so let's just say he had about a week's worth of fruit snacks in a span of about an hour! If you had a chance to see the clip, I'm sure you noticed that he was chewing fruit snacks on air! Once he saw himself on the screen, his eyes remained glued on himself, so he kind of looked like a deer in the headlights, but it got the job done!

Below is a picture of Daddy & Micah posing in front of the television station...

Dewayne has such a knack for taking photos...notice that he got a picture of a criminal in the background of my picture with Micah just before we went on the air...

Pumpkin Patch Express!

Pumpkin Patch Express!

Last weekend, Micah enjoyed his first "real" train ride aboard the Pumpkin Patch Express! Midway through the trip, we made a pit stop in the woods where Micah met The Great Pumpkin, rode on a hayride, picked out his very own pumpkin to take home, & got his first (temporary) tattoo!

In the photo above, we are heading towards the pumpkin patch on the train. And, below, Micah is showing off his prized pumpkin and coloring masterpiece. As you can see, it was hard for me to get him to look at the camera (his eyes were fixed on The Great Pumpkin.)

Micah examines his first pumpkin tattoo! He didn't like it at first and tried to wipe it off. But then it grew on him and he refused to let me wash it off. By the next morning, it looked less like a pumpkin and more like some sort of nasty growth.

Micah pointing to The Great Pumpkin...but now, he has his eyes set on the sandbox in the distance. Too bad I didn't get a picture of Micah playing in the sandbox, as this was his first time to play with sand. He usually avoids the sand at all costs, but he saw a couple of his friends playing in the sandbox so I suppose he decided to give it a try--EXCEPT, he never stepped foot in the sandbox! He scooped out the sand from outside of the sandbox...at least it's a start! : )

Big Boy Haircut!

Big Boy Haircut!

...Meaning that this was the first time that Micah's hair was cut with clippers! There was such a wide range of emotions! I'll let the pictures walk you through the adventure...

1. Just washed...(happy.)

2. After the hair dryer...(the tears begin.)

3. Halfway done...(more tears.)

4. All done...(silence.)

5. Waiting for the verdict?...(more silence.)

6. Micah loves his new hair cut...(applause!)

Trip to Mobile

Micah's Trip to Mobile

This Fall, we made two visits to Mobile to see Grandma & Grandpa. Grandma Anne dusted off a few old toys from the attic to keep Micah busy. These included a yellow riding toy named "Ollie", a red wooden table along with a tiny blue chair, a spinning top, a musical walking toy, and an old spring horse, (maybe it's supposed to be called a "rocking" horse, but you bounce on this one instead of rock...)

We also tried to recreate a photo taken of me when I was maybe 3 years old sitting on a wooden bench. (The bench is now a permanent fixture in the dining room of my parent's home.) In the picture of me sitting on the bench, I did just that...sit. Micah, on the other hand, was EVERYWHERE--He wouldn't sit still! Out of the 25+ pictures that I took, Micah faced the camera in only 2 of them. I was able to use one of the two pictures for our Christmas card. I now have a much greater respect for professional photographers!

The Georgia Aquarium

Micah's First Trip to the Georgia Aquarium

This past September, Micah enjoyed his visit to the aquarium where he saw creatures that he had only seen in books. His favorite exhibit, by far, was this room with a huge wall of plexiglass that gave a realistic view of the underwater world. He sat right in front of the plexiglass in utter awe and amazement. Since our visit to the aquarium, he likes to say: "Fshhh!" (for "Fish".)

Micah ponders why he is surrounded by fish...

Halloween 2010

Dorothy, The Lion, & The Yellow Brick Road

Let me first begin by saying that Dewayne was not thrilled about my Wizard of Oz idea for Halloween, but in the end, he participated in the fun! And, Micah was the CUTEST lion ever! (I could be biased...)

On Saturday morning, we hopped over to a friend's neighborhood and walked in their Halloween parade. Because Micah was walking so slow, we were the last ones to finish the parade. Then we jumped on a hayride around the neighborhood and waved to people who were probably wondering who we were. And to my surprise, Micah allowed me to push him in a swing for the first time. No, really, he used to kick, scream, and cry when I tried to put him in a swing, so I left it alone for several months. I decided to try it again and he LOVED it!

Later that night, Micah hosted his first Halloween Bash at our house. After watching the Auburn game and chowing down on some pizza, we hit the streets. This was Micah's first year to trick-or-treat which was funny because at the first house, our neighbor gave him one piece of candy. Micah did not want to put the candy in his bucket so he just kept a tight grip on it. When we got to the next house, Micah gave his first piece of candy to the other neighbor in exchange for a NEW piece of candy. We only hit 5 houses, and if it weren't for Dewayne, Micah would have only ended up with one piece of candy because he kept giving his candy away for another piece! I don't think Micah got to eat any candy because Dewayne ate it all! (Okay, I'll admit, I had a few pieces...)

On Sunday, we went trick-or-treating at the Hoover Public Library. Every section of the library had pit stops for the kids to get candy. Notice, I said that this was held at the LIBRARY so most of the people there were studying or reading quietly, that is, until Micah stepped in the building. We tried to teach him how to "ROAR!!!" a few days prior to Halloween but he wouldn't say it. As it turns out, he figured out how to "ROAR!!!" at the library of all places! Everybody knew that Micah was in the building! That evening, we went back to my friend's neighborhood and participated in their trick-or-treating celebration--(can you tell that I wanted to get the most out of this costume?!)
