"I See You!"
Seven Weeks Old...
Micah's grandparents paid him a visit last weekend! This time, Micah was awake quite a bit more than their last visit when he was just a couple of weeks old. Overall, he's beginning to become much more active and alert. Although, sometimes I can tell that he's really sleepy but he keeps fighting those eyelids from dropping! In fact, today he's been up for almost 5 hours straight--this is one of his longest stretches ever! During several instances, he'll doze off, and I'll think to myself, "Yay! Let me grab some lunch/take a shower/take a nap/etc..." However, five minutes later Micah is wide awake as if he's saying, "Just kidding! Let's play!" Thus, my lunch/shower/nap/etc. gets put on hold yet again...
Micah with Grandma & Grandpa
While Micah is awake, we spend time singing, reading, and enjoying tummy time. As you can see in the picture above, he likes to admire himself in the mirror, and he particularly likes an old Girl Scout song I remember called "Sippin' Cider". This week I bought Micah a collection of books including his first Bible, Mother Goose nursery rhymes, and oodles of bedtime stories. And, why is it that whenever I go to Babies R' Us to get one item for Micah, I never come out with just one item?
I don't know about other babies, but Micah does not like being in a car seat. So, one day while Dewayne and I were driving around town to get a change of scenery, Micah became irate because he did not want to be in the car seat. Dewayne and I decided to sing "99 Bottles of Milk On the Wall" until he drifted off to sleep. No joke, Micah FINALLY closed his eyelids when we got to, "NO bottles of milk on the wall..." I think that is the first time ever in my life that I've actually gone through the ENTIRE song!
Micah is starting to babble a bit more, and every once in awhile, he'll flash an adorable smile. He's still averaging four to five hours of sleep at night, which at this point is wonderful! His two month appointment is this week and I'm so excited because we'll finally get to see how much he weighs! I'm assuming he's at least 9 pounds by now. (And, we'll be sure to pack extra diapers since Micah loves to go through several diaper changes while at the doctor's office.)
